Omehra

Omehra Sigahne, is Pinay.com's publisher and life coach. She is also a multimedia artist and leader who collaborates with artists, writers, healers, activists, professionals and organizers around the world in digital collage, poetry, photography, painting, online communities, publications, workshops, conferences and organizations.

Omehra is also known as Inday Perla, Perla Daly, BagongPinay and NewFilipina.

Online and at live events, Omehra actively promotes a positive and empowered image of being Filipino and embracing Philippine traditions in a modern world. She has been publishing websites to empower Filipinos for 20 years.

In 1998 she founded the first online community for Filipina women at newfilipina.com, also called BagongPinay, it started as an edgy, cool site with the mission to empower Filipinas everywhere and to also fight Filipina stereotypes online.

After she started this site she took on the pen name of NewFilipina or BagongPinay. In the 1990s she was part of an online discussion group called Flipserv and in the early 2000s started two other discussion groups called Pagbabalikloob and Babaylan.

A deep part of Omehra's work is to strengthen Filipino cultural awareness and to shift consciousness to a higher level. In 2009, Omehra also started blogging at BaybayinAlive.com to help people understand baybayin, the ancient Filipino script, as a tool for decolonization and exploring Filipino identity.

Omehra has a marketing and creative background, and at the same time has given women's meditation circles, yoga classes, facilitated retreats, organized conferences, speaker panels, fundraising, exhibits and workshops.

She's a member of the Filipina Women's Network since 2000. And in 2011 was recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipinas of America, 2011.

She Chaired the international Filipina leadership conference of FAWN2005 in New York City in 2005, and co-founded the Center for Babaylan Studies (2009), organizing events, tools, communications. for upholding indigenous spirituality and studies and bridging Fil-Ams in the diaspora with Philippine traditions and indigenous people.

For her online work, community networking and her mentorship of many young Filipinas, she was a recipient of the Babaylan Award in 2000 at the FAWN 2000 conference organized by FWN and Filipinas Magazine.

She strives for bringing out the best in herself and helping others do the same for themselves by sharing her positive attitude towards living and life that she calls Shine Mentality.

She is a proud Bacolodnon, and a St.Scho and UP Diliman graduate.

Omehra is a certified coach in Emotional Intelligence (EQi), a licensed facilitator of The Desire Map, and a member of the International Coach Federation.
