Spoonful of Flavors, First Ever Manila Intercollegiate Cookfest
It was a day jampacked with flavors by budding chefs, from all over the metro, who shared their culinary talents at Spoonful of Flavors 2014, an intercollegiate cookfest held by Sta. Lucia Department Store.
Spoonful of Flavors 2014, the first-ever intercollegiate cookfest of Metro Manila, was held at the Sta. Lucia Mall on September 5, 2014, searching for a Chef Superstar who would win a grand prize of P10,000 worth of gift certificates and products.
Contestants wore chef’s uniforms while they competed, bringing in their own ingredients, equipment and three white kitchen towels. The contest was held much the same way our favorite chef cooking contests are done on television. All the contestants prepared an appetizer and main course. Then they cooked risotto in an elimination round. Then at the end they prepared a dessert for two, using a mystery ingredient in the final round.
Then the finalists were chosen:
- Gold Spoon awardees Lawrence Lagamson and Ephraim Joseph Dingle, Far Eastern University (FEU). With coach Romeo Apostol.
- Bronze Spoon awardees Marie Beatriz Sarte and Hanzel Lorenzo Mora, La Consolacion College of Manila.
The Spoonful of Flavors event was proudly sponsored by Pinay.com alongside Ocean Glassware, Meyer Cookware, Anolon, Wilmax, San Remo Pasta, Menu Seasoning, Twinings, Top Chef Solutions and WhenInManila.com.
